After many years working in the haulage industry we – Roy and Lynda Guyatt – decided to take a leap and start our own business, motivated largely by our desire to grow personally, and involve the whole family in the process.
We founded Guyatts of Salisbury in 2002, armed with plenty of ambition and a trusty Volvo FL6. We set out to build a good reputation and strong business relationships with our customers and other haulage companies. We’re delighted to say that our company has gone from strength to strength, and continues to flourish and grow.
We currently offer not only haulage services from our base in Salisbury, Wiltshire, but have branched out to include storage and recycling in our repertoire.
Manager of the business is Kristian Guyatt, who joined us in 2005 after passing his HGV licence and gaining experience in the haulage trade.
In 2012 we identified an opportunity to branch out into metal recycling, making use of a unit on site at our Operating Centre.
Our priority was to ensure we operated a trustworthy, reputable recycling centre that complied with all the relevant legislation, so people would be assured that we were taking care of their waste ethically and lawfully.
We have all the correct waste licensing in place, and have researched the best recycling management system for stock management, invoicing and all the identification checks required to adhere to the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013. We found the haulage and recycling complemented each other perfectly, enabling us to offer a great collection service with the fleet we already had.
The storage facet of our company arrived as a gift in 2014 when a local company offered us the chance to take it on when they were closing down. We expanded the business and in 2020 moved our operation to a larger premises at Old Sarum Business Park, along with our team of 12 staff members.
